Ultra-low latency is key for Business Services and over short metro distances, FEC (which is the greatest contributor to latency) can be disabled • This FID covers the implementation of disabling FEC for the 11DPE12A, 11QPE24, 11OPE8, and 11QCE12X packs • FEC is the main contributor for latency. In order to reduce latency, the L2 cards should be able to OTUk transmission with FEC disabled. This applies to both the OTU2e (11.096 Gbit/s) and OTU2e (11.049 Gbit/s) rates of line ports • To guarantee error-free transmission, no-FEC mode requires the use of special XFPs, e.g, 1AB375650047 from Finisar. This is a better performing XFP. FEC disabling should be available for any XFP but may not be error-free • Error-free transmission may not be guaranteed. PSS-36/64 FID 3022-1: 130SCUPB 1 x 100G Uplink card Brief Description: The 130SCUPB is a new uplink card for R7.0. The 130SCUPB is a single-slot variant of the 130SCUP card with lower power dissipation. The 130SCUPB uses a Flex-Framer ASIC (and is not Obelix-based). The Flex-Framer can ODUflex and ODU3 mappings (not introduced in software release R7.0)
