The InspireNet Manawatu Digi Awards is a student eLearning competition and awards evening. Participation will enhance students' creativity and digital citizenship. Teachers will be inspired to further develop their ability to integrate e-learning effectively into their practice, creating innovative and exciting learning environments. The awards evening will provide an opportunity for students, their families and friends to share and celebrate eLearning excellence. Goals 1. Students to become successful digital citizens 3. Teachers to integrate e-learning effectively into their practice creating an innovative and exciting learning environment for all students 4 Family and whanau to actively participate in their child’s learning

An entry may be entered in one category only All entries and entry sheet to be submitted on a labeled pen drive Please refer to www.thedigiawards.wikispaces.com for full judging criteria The photograph should: ž Convey a message ž Have good composition (Thirds rule; foreground; background; balance and Digital photograph order) ž Show one or more of the elements (people, line, colour, light) Original photo taken by the student ž Demonstrate awareness of angle; fame and/or macro ž Be over 1 MB, as images will be viewed on a screen (Digitally enhanced photos will be accepted) The photo essay should: • Have a title • Contain between 4 and 7 photographs Photo Essay • Demonstrate good photography techniques and composition Original photos taken by the • Tell a clear story or illustrate an emotion or key competency student • Be combined into a collage and saved a one image file (e.g. .jpg or .png Picasa or other photo software can be used to do this.) The digital graphic design should: ž Have a visual impact on the viewer - grab attention. ž Convey a clear message to a targeted audience ž Use words, images, symbols and graphs (where appropriate) ž Have a clear heading, subheadings/logo to enhance the message ž Have a relationship and a flow between the elements The book trailer should: ž Use relevant photos and/or video to show some main ideas or events from the story ž Present information in a compelling way using a combination of text and/or narration ž Use music to create a mood ž Name the book and show a photo of it

The mini documentary should: ž Convey a clear message or opinion which is ed by relevant narration, graphic/s and video ž Inform the audience and hold their attention ž Show an understanding of shooting techniques and film composition ž Be well edited to enhance the message ž Contain informed, well written and expressive narration The animation should: ž Convey a clear message with the graphics flowing seamlessly ž Include a title and credits ž Show good composition, camera work and editing ž Have a narration and/or music The music video should: ž Use a visual format which attracts the viewers attention ž Be predominately moving images/clips ž Be creative and entertaining with well thought out relevance to the music and lyrics ž Use appropriate locations ž Feature strong and compelling performances ž Consistently show good camera angles, camera movement, lighting and framing of shots The short movie should: ž Be predominately in video format (moving images) ž Tell a story which holds the audiences’ attention ž Demonstrate camera work which shows an understanding of composition and shooting techniques (angles, movement, lighting, framing) ž Show editing which enhances and adds impact to the message ž Have compelling and interesting actors ž Contain dialogue/narration and/or background music which enhances the story Overall stand-out entry at each level (as decided by the judges) Best actor, actress or presenter (as decided by the judges)
