Jackie Robinson My biography is on Jackie Robinson. He is famous for being the first African American major league baseball player. Jackie Robinson was born on January 31, 1919, near Cairo, Georgia. I got my information from a book called “A Picture Book of Jackie Robinson, written by David A. Adler. Jackie Robinson loved sports. He had very good sports skills. He went to John Muir Technical High school. Later, he went to Pasadena Junior College, and after that to UCLA (University of California at Los Angeles). An important person in Jackie’s life was Branch Rickey, the man who accepted Jackie Robinson into the major leagues. His wife, Rachel Isum, and his children, Jack Jr., David, and Sharon, were also important to him; they gave him help and . The Kansas City Monarchs, Montreal Royals, and Brooklyn Dodgers, his first, second, and third baseball teams, also did a lot for him. Jackie was a good person, though he did make mistakes. One of his biggest ones occurred when he was in the U.S. Army. He did not listen to the commander. The commander had told him to go in the back of the bus with the other African Americans, but he said no. He was sent to court and judged innocent, but had had enough of army life and quit.
